Lightscape - Shunkashūtō

Shunkashūtō

Jason Cochran and Manny Jose
Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden

Visitors are carried through the year’s changing seasons by this dynamic projection over the Japanese pond. In a sequence of four scenes, broad washes of color across the landscape of the far shore are overlaid with stylized patterns for each season. As the light and patterns move, they reflect on the water, with the torii as an ever-present focal point.

Jason Cochran was the production electrician for last year’s Lightscape in Houston. Manny Jose is Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s senior graphic designer.
