Weekends from April 26 to May 11, celebrate cherry blossom season and all the spring blooms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden with casual, pop-up music and dance performances, morning programming for kids and families in the Discovery Garden, and Garden tours.
All programs free with Garden admission. See all weekends. 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Learn and play together in the Discovery Garden. Hands-on stations throughout the garden’s courtyard, meadow, woodland, and marsh encourage families to explore nature alongside our volunteer Discovery Docents and teen garden apprentices.
12 & 2:30 p.m. Take a tour from Haiti through the Caribbean to Brazil—but always back to Haiti. Styles travel from reggae to twoubadou (Haitian troubadour) to samba and bossa nova dance on a jazz foundation. Enjoy a repertoire of classics alongside original compositions by Mr. LeMorin with lyrics in Kreyòl, French, and English. Presented in partnership with Haiti Cultural Exchange, a nonprofit organization established to develop, present, and promote the cultural expressions of the Haitian people 1 & 3 p.m. Dance along with this performance of thunderous traditional Japanese taiko drumming.
1–2 p.m. Discover BBG’s plants and gardens in peak bloom and other highlights of the season in this free walk led by trained Garden Guides. Meet on Magnolia Plaza by building steps. 2 p.m. Join this world-renowned performance company in a drum and dance procession in the spirit of Rio’s famous Carnaval. Samba New York are dedicated to educating, entertaining, and uplifting people of all backgrounds with the exhilarating national music and dance of Brazil.
