Garden Circle members are invited to join Meera Jagroop or Chelsea Forgenie for a tour of the Trees of Little Caribbean exhibit in the Steinhardt Conservatory. Chelsea is BBG’s school workshops coordinator and Meera is director of youth programs; both are co-curators of this new exhibit.
Trees of Little Caribbean is a celebration of the trees (and treelike plants) cherished by Caribbean people that spark stories of rebellion, resilience, spirituality, and joy. Learn about native Caribbean trees like papaya, guava, soursop, and allspice as well as nonnative plants (like the banana) that were brought from across the globe under colonialism.
This invitation is for two and is nontransferable. The two 45-minute, indoor tours start at 9 a.m. with Meera and 9:30 a.m. with Chelsea. Space is limited; be sure to RSVP below to save your spot. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
