For the 20th anniversary of September 11, enjoy free admission all day. The Garden hopes to always be a place of peace and reflection for our community.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden has two collections in remembrance of September 11. Along the eastern and western edges of Cherry Esplanade are allées of scarlet oak trees, the Liberty Oaks, planted in remembrance of the events of that day and those who lost their lives. The Tree Peony Collection that blooms in the spring was presented to the Garden in 2002 by the Japanese town of Yatsuka-Cho in Shimane Prefecture to "bring peace of mind to the people of the United States.”
