Children’s Education Programs
Since BBG’s founding, education has been at the core of its mission, and it is more important today than ever as the Garden enters into its second century of service. Thanks to BBG’s education programs, hundreds of thousands of New York City children have experienced the richness of gardening, the excitement of science-based inquiry, and the simple pleasures of touching plants and soil. These programs have continued to give many urban children their first hands-on experiences with plants and nature in addition to providing them with a concrete understanding of their role as environmental stewards.
Funds raised from Passport to Summer support the Garden’s ongoing efforts to provide much-needed, world-class programs for 150,000 young people in the community each year.
