On July 1 we launch our summer season of Discovery Workshops—free garden-based workshops for kids in the Discovery Garden!
Throughout July and August, we offer fun, hands-on workshops for kids of all ages on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Drop in anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. to give your family a firsthand learning experience about plants and nature in the setting of our lush, interactive Discovery Garden.
During July, our workshop is Botany for Kids. Each week, we’ll explore a different botanical theme—such as plant parts, plant needs, and plants we eat—and do an activity, like making a “monster plant” collage or planting a tropical tree to take home.
During August, we’ll be giving kids the chance to flex their creativity with Earth Art. We will use natural and recycled material to make a garden-related craft each week, such as a soil collage on worm day or a recycled rain gauge as we learn about the water cycle.
We hope you join Discovery Garden staff and volunteers for some serious plant-based fun and learning this summer. The garden is chock-full of blooms and butterflies, and the sprinklers are off the hook!
