Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment (BASE) earned an “A” on the school’s NYC Department of Education 2009—10 Progress Report. BASE emphasizes close collaboration between students, staff, parents, and its founding community partners, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park Alliance, in order to create an optimum learning environment. Working with the Department of Education and New Visions for Public Schools, BASE saw marked improvement in all key grading categories this year. The progress report is a summary of many factors at the school, including academic achievement and elements that affect the learning environment such as attendance and security.
Now in its eighth year, BASE offers students a truly unique high school experience in the Big Apple. Working with BBG and Prospect Park Alliance, students attend field studies built into their regular school schedules at either BBG or Prospect Park. All of us at BBG are very proud of this latest success for BASE!
