Inspired by Nature: Steve Buchanan and Barbara WF Miner
October 18 – November 16, 2003
The Steinhardt Conservatory Gallery will present an exhibit of two amazing artists inspired by Halloween. Steven Buchanan's illustrations have been featured in numerous stamps issued by the United States Postal Service. His Insect and Spider stamps were the sixth-greatest revenue generator in postal history! In addition to Insects and Spiders, this exhibit will feature the original art from the newly released Reptiles and Amphibian stamp series, as well as the popular Carnivorous Plants series. Sculpture Barbara Miner will create site specific sculpture installations for the Steinhardt Conservatory Gallery. Miner's works use texture, color, and form that make direct reference to nature. By juxtaposing organic and inorganic materials, she is able to heighten the drama created by her sculptures.
