P12. Echinacea 'Evan Saul' SUNDOWNTM
Coneflower (cultivar)
Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–8
Full sun to partial shade
Average soil
2½–3 feet tall
The flower heads of this tall hybrid Echinacea are enormous and intensely colored. They grow 6 inches wide and boast honey-scented henna-brown cones and slightly reflexed, yellow-tipped bright orange florets. Lasting from July to September, the flower heads are magnets for butterflies. Beautiful at the back of the perennial border and as a cut flower, SUNDOWNTM is also exceptionally heat and drought tolerant, and these features make it stand out among the crowd of new Echinacea cultivars sweeping horticulture. Grow it in full sun to light shade and average, well-drained soil.
