P07. Hosta 'Guacamole'
Hosta (cultivar)
Hardiness: USDA Zones 3–9
Partial shade
Moist soil
1½–2 feet tall
A reverse sport of 'Fragrant Bouquet' selected by hosta luminary Bob Solberg of Green Hill Farm, Hosta 'Guacamole' produces a vigorous mound of lovely heart-shaped, chartreuse-gold foliage with wide, dark green edges. In summer, the foliage is topped by a marvelous display of large, stalked, fragrant near-white flowers. Grow the plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and partial sun to light shade. Site it near a path, bench, or border edge to enjoy the full benefits of the floral fragrance.
