Leslie Berge

Leslie Berge (1960–2017) held degrees in both painting and illustration. While a student in Paris, she frequented the Jardin des Plantes, and subsequently took up botanical illustration. Her work has been exhibited worldwide and is in numerous private and public collections, including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, and the Shirley Sherwood Collection. Her work has been reproduced in Smithsonian Magazine, The New York Times, and the Washington Post and in numerous books and catalogs. She was a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and received many awards, including the Kirstenbosch Gold Medal, for her paintings of cycads and proteas.
