Discovery Garden
Frolic throughout the fall in our fun-filled Discovery Garden, for families with young children. This outdoor exploration and adventure garden is designed to provide an atmosphere where plants and nature come alive for children. Use your senses to explore plants, discover garden creatures, hide under a weeping tree, or hike a nature trail! The Discovery Garden includes enclosed green spaces for even the youngest toddlers to experience plant life firsthand. Join us during BBG's regular garden hours; children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
Weekday Discovery Programs

Discovery Tuesdays!
Tuesday is discovery day for young gardeners interested in growing and cultivating green thumbs in the Discovery Garden. Kids make and take home their own plantings, pressing and printing projects, sachets, and botanical arts and crafts.

Worms on Weekends
Come and see what we're digging up in the Discovery Garden! Kids examine garden creatures big and small in our worm bin. Kids learn about how worms live underground and why they are so important in the garden.

Sense-ational Seeds
Roll up your sleeves and join the fun while we sort seeds, plant seeds, and create seed arts and crafts to take home.

Chile Pepper Fiesta: Pepper Party!
Get fired up for chile peppers at our annual Chile Pepper Fiesta! Children and families can join in on our hands-on exploration workshop to learn more about peppers, both sweet and hot, grown by children in the Children's Garden.

Leaf Out in November!
Jump into our pile of leafy activities this month with leaf pressings, leaf art, and leaf hunts. How do leaves change color in the fall? Why do some leaves fall and some stay forever green? Learn why and how through hands-on experiments, games, and crafts.

Wonderful Winter Greens!
Join us for an afternoon of creative winter crafts using winter's bounty of natural objects. Create your own seasonal display or winter wall hanging using plant materials collected from the great outdoors.

Catch our Discovery Carts as they roll around the Garden this fall with exciting and educational plant adventures for children and families. These traveling education carts are staffed by our enthusiastic Garden Apprentice teens and offer in-depth opportunities for children and adults to learn about plants through close observation, scientific investigation, and hands-on interactions.
