These courses are recommended for anyone with an interest in plants and science—not just professionals! Electives are not required for the Horticulture Certificate at this time, but they are an excellent way to expand your professional skills.

Plant Taxonomy

Dr. Susan Pell and Dr. Gerry Moore

What is taxonomy? Join BBG expert scientists to learn about taxonomy through history and current tricks of the trade (plant nomenclature, floristics, and using identification keys). This course will also cover fundamental family characteristics by examining and drawing from live examples. No prerequisites. This course will enhance what you've learned already, or prepare you to move on if you're just starting!
